Utah Notary ExamThe Utah notary exam is mandatory for people who wish to apply for the Notary Public office in Utah in a process similar to that of neighboring states like Texas and even faraway states like NY. The following are some of the points that you need to remember about this test. People need to be at least eighteen years of age before they can appear for the notary test. There is a restriction that the person must be a citizen of Utah or at least a legally residing alien in the state. There should be a minimum residency of 30 days prior to the date of the test. Even traveling people can appear for this test, provided they have stayed in Utah for this period. The test contains thirty five questions in all. Out of this, it is important to attempt thirty one questions currently to get a passing grade. The person's application must be endorsed by at least two legal residents of Utah who are adults. The process for becoming a Notary Public begins with ordering a Complete Notary Supply Package which includes the Value Stamp Notary Seal, the Journal of Notarial Acts, Acknowledgement Certificates, the Utah Notary Law Primer, the Notary Bond, Notary Errors and Omission Insurance and the Fee Schedule. Ordering the Complete Notary Supply Package also enables the person for NNA membership. This Complete Notary Supply Package is not a mandatory requirement for appearing for the test, but it will make the process much easier for the person because of the immense information on notary practices that it carries within its pages and the various tools and equipments it has bundled, which are in any case necessary for the applicant later on. After this, the person needs to appear and pass the exam and get the state's Letter of Passing. Once this letter is obtained, a copy of it needs to be forwarded to the NNA. This will activate the Notary Bond, which the person receives through First Class mail. In order to get commissioned, this Notary Bond has to be submitted to the State in a completed form along with an application fee of $30, the original Letter of Passing a copy of the birth certificate or a passport of the USA. A bond of $5,000 is required along with inked stamps. Once the person gets commissioned, they will have the privilege for four years. The journal to be used for the exam is the one that is recommended by the state of Utah.
